In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended (NEPA), and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, as amended (FLPMA), the Bureau of Land Management announces the availability of the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Dry Creek Trona Mine project in Sweetwater County, Wyoming.

🏞️Public Land Order Extension Protects White Mountain Petroglyphs Site

This order extends the duration of the withdrawal created by Public Land Order (PLO) No. 6597, as extended by PLO No. 7621, for an additional 20-year period. PLO No. 6597, as extended, withdrew 20 acres of public land administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Sweetwater County, Wyoming from settlement, sale, location, or entry under the general land laws, including the United States mining laws, but not from leasing under the mineral leasing laws, for 20 years, subject to valid existing rights, to protect the White Mountain Petroglyphs Site. Extension of the withdrawal is necessary to protect the Native American, cultural resource, wildlife, scenic, and educational values of, as well as the capital investment in, the White Mountain Petroglyphs Site.

♻️Wyoming Approves Wind Turbine Blade Disposal in Coal Mining

We, the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), are approving an amendment to the Wyoming regulatory program (hereinafter, the Wyoming Program or Program) under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA or the Act). On its own initiative, the Wyoming Land Quality Division (LQD), in response to State legislative changes enacted in 2020, proposed rules to its Program that facilitate the disposal of inert decommissioned wind turbine blades and towers as backfill in end walls or the final pit voids in surface coal mining operations. In addition, Wyoming has updated Chapter 2 of its Coal Rules, titled "Permit Application Requirements for Surface Coal Mining Operations," to provide consistency with the Wyoming Secretary of State's Rules on Rules, as well as correct grammatical errors.

🌳Extension of Public Land Order No. 7959 in Wyoming

This Public Land Order (PLO) extends the duration of the withdrawal created by PLO No. 7628, which would otherwise expire March 7, 2025, for an additional 20-year period. PLO No. 7628 withdrew 1,960.10 acres of public lands in Big Horn County, Wyoming, from settlement, sale, location, or entry under the general land laws, including the United States mining laws, subject to valid existing rights, to protect wild horse and wildlife habitat and watershed, recreation, cultural, and scenic values within the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range (PMWHR).

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announces the availability of the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Approved Resource Management Plan (RMP) Amendment for the Rock Springs Field Office located in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The BLM Principal Deputy Director signed the ROD on December 20, 2024, which constitutes the decision of the BLM and makes the Approved RMP effective immediately.
