Notice is hereby given of the following determinations: I hereby determine that certain objects being imported from abroad pursuant to agreements with their foreign owners or custodians for temporary display in the exhibition "Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers" at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, New York; the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, in Fort Worth, Texas; and at possible additional exhibitions or venues yet to be determined, are of cultural significance, and, further, that their temporary exhibition or display within the United States as aforementioned is in the national interest. I have ordered that Public Notice of these determinations be published in the Federal Register.

Notice is hereby given of the following determinations: I hereby determine that certain objects being imported from abroad pursuant to agreements with their foreign owners or custodians for temporary display in the exhibition "Roaring: Art, Fashion, and the Automobile in France, 1918-1939" at the Saint Louis Art Museum, St. Louis, Missouri, and at possible additional exhibitions or venues yet to be determined, are of cultural significance, and, further, that their temporary exhibition or display within the United States as aforementioned is in the national interest. On December 23, 2024, notice was published in the Federal Register of determinations pertaining to certain objects to be included in an exhibition entitled "The First Homosexuals." Notice is hereby given of the following determinations: I hereby determine that a certain additional object being imported from abroad pursuant to an agreement with its foreign owner or custodian for temporary display in the aforesaid exhibition by Alphawood Foundation, through its subsidiary Alphawood Exhibitions LLC, at the Wrightwood 659 Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, and at possible additional exhibitions or venues yet to be determined, is of cultural significance, and, further, that its temporary exhibition or display within the United States as aforementioned is in the national interest. I have ordered that Public Notice of these determinations be published in the Federal Register.

🌊Executive Order on Restoring American Heritage Through Renaming

Executive Order 14172 aims to restore names that celebrate American heritage, specifically renaming significant landmarks and waterways. It directs the U.S. Board on Geographic Names to consider appointments and renaming applications that honor historic figures, and emphasizes the economic significance of the newly named Gulf of America while requiring regulations to be updated accordingly.

🌊Proposed Vehicle Permit Changes for Assateague Island Seashore

The National Park Service (NPS) proposes to amend the special regulations for Assateague Island National Seashore to remove certain permit eligibility requirements for motor vehicles that drive on designated beaches and oversand routes. The rulemaking would eliminate requirements addressing vehicle weight, ground clearance, and dimensions. These requirements were established in 1976 and are no longer necessary. In addition, the NPS proposes to make several technical, non-substantive changes to the regulations.

🌊New Florida Keys Sanctuary Regulations

As part of its Restoration Blueprint initiative, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is issuing final regulations for the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS or sanctuary) that will expand the boundary of the sanctuary, update sanctuary-wide regulations, update the individual marine zones and their associated regulations, and revise the sanctuary's terms of designation. NOAA is also finalizing a revised management plan and final environmental impact statement (EIS) as part of this action. The final rule describes how NOAA will work to improve the condition of resources in FKNMS through a series of regulatory measures designed to reduce threats and, where appropriate, restore coral reefs, seagrasses, and other important habitats. The intended effect of this final rule is to manage and protect the living and heritage resources of FKNMS for the benefit of the public.

🏛️Notice of Intended Repatriation Under NAGPRA by U.S. Interior Department

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) intends to repatriate a certain cultural item that meet the definition of an object of cultural patrimony and that has a cultural affiliation with the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations in this notice.
