š£Notice for Exempted Fishing Permits under Magnuson-Stevens Act
The Assistant Regional Administrator for Sustainable Fisheries, Greater Atlantic Region, NMFS, has made a preliminary determination that an Exempted Fishing Permit (EFP) application contains all of the required information and warrants further consideration. The EFP would allow federally permitted fishing vessels to fish outside fishery regulations in support of exempted fishing activities proposed by the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (MA DMF). Regulations under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act require publication of this notification to provide interested parties the opportunity to comment on applications for proposed EFPs.

Learn Moreš£Amendment 23 to CPS Fishery Management Plan Impacting Fisheries
The Pacific Fishery Management Council has submitted Amendment 23 to the Coastal Pelagic Species (CPS) Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for review by the Secretary of Commerce. If approved, Amendment 23 would implement a revised rebuilding plan for the northern subpopulation of Pacific sardine. This proposed amendment is intended to promote the goals and objectives of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (Magnuson-Stevens Act or MSA), the CPS FMP, and other applicable laws. NMFS will consider public comments in deciding whether to approve, disapprove, or partially approve Amendment 23. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), as amended, NMFS also announces the availability of a draft environmental assessment that analyzes the potential effects of the associated proposed amendment.

The Draft Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Sinks: 1990-2023 report is available for public review. Sectoral chapters within the report and cross-cutting summary and trends chapters will be posted to the identified docket on a rolling basis between January 15 and February 13, 2025. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requests recommendations for improving the overall quality of the inventory report to be finalized in April 2025, as well as subsequent inventory reports.
