✈️FAA Issues New Airworthiness Directive for Airbus A350 Compliance

The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus SAS Model A350-941 and A350-1041 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by reports of mechanical noises originating from the nose landing gear (NLG) shock absorber during ground maneuvers. This proposed AD would require repetitive inspections (i.e., steering checks) of the NLG shock absorber and applicable on-condition actions and limit the installation of affected parts under certain conditions. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

✈️Proposed Airworthiness Directive for Airbus Canada Aircraft

The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus Canada Limited Partnership Model BD-500-1A10 and BD- 500-1A11 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by reports that the interface pin of the secondary load path in the upper gimbal of the horizontal stabilizer trim actuator (HSTA) was incorrectly installed. This proposed AD would require a detailed visual inspection of the interface pin of the HSTA to determine if the interface pin is incorrectly installed, and applicable on-condition actions as specified in a Transport Canada AD, which is proposed for incorporation by reference (IBR). The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

This AD was prompted by a manufacturer investigation that revealed certain high-pressure turbine (HPT) stage 1 and HPT stage 2 disks were manufactured from powder metal material suspected to contain iron inclusion. This AD requires replacement of affected HPT stage 1 and HPT stage 2 disks with parts eligible for installation. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

✈️Proposed Airworthiness Directive for Bombardier Airplanes Overview

The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-700-1A10 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by a report indicating that the clearance between therapeutic flexible oxygen hoses and electrical harnesses may be non-compliant to design requirements, and that positive separation mechanisms and appropriate protective barriers may not have been installed in accordance with the applicable installation standards. This proposed AD would require a detailed inspection of the therapeutic flexible oxygen hose for damage and protection, and the electrical harnesses for damage; a detailed inspection for the clearance between the therapeutic oxygen rigid tube to oxygen hose elbow fitting (also referred to as elbow fitting), if applicable, and the nearest electrical harness, and between the therapeutic flexible oxygen hose and electrical harness; and applicable related investigative and corrective actions. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

🎬DISA Entertainment's Drug and Alcohol Testing Exemption Renewal

FMCSA announces its final decision to renew the exemption granted to DISA Entertainment Compliance Solutions (DECS), formerly known as Motion Picture Compliance Solutions, from the requirement that an employer must not employ a driver who is subject to drug and alcohol testing to perform safety-sensitive functions prior to conducting a full query of the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse). The exemption renewal allows DECS members that employ commercial driver's license (CDL) holders to conduct a limited query of the Clearinghouse before hiring a driver for a project. If the limited query indicates that information about the driver exists in the Clearinghouse, the driver is not permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions unless and until a full query subsequently shows that the driver is not prohibited from operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). FMCSA has analyzed the exemption application and the public comments and has determined that the exemption, subject to the terms and conditions set forth below, is likely to achieve a level of safety that is equivalent to or greater than the level that would be achieved in the absence of the exemption.
