DPR-80 and DPR-82 for an additional 20 years of operation for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2 (Diablo Canyon). Diablo Canyon is located in Avila Beach, California, approximately 12 miles west-southwest of San Luis Obispo, California. Possible alternatives to the proposed action of license renewal for Diablo Canyon were evaluated and included the no-action alternative and replacement power alternatives.

The NRC is considering extending authorization of the high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) demonstration program operations to continue through June 30, 2034, along with a possession limit increase to support the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and ACO contract production milestone of 900 kilograms of HALEU per year. In the event of an extension of ACO's HALEU contract with the DOE, potentially the authorization would be extended through the revised contract period. For this proposed action, the NRC staff is issuing an environmental assessment (EA) and a finding of no significant impact (FONSI).
