The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) invites the general public and other Federal agencies to comment upon this proposed new collection of information. This collection of information is necessary to comply with section 2 of the Executive order (E.O.) entitled "Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats", which directs implementation of uniform vetting standards and requires the collection of all information necessary for a rigorous vetting and screening of all grounds of inadmissibility or bases for the denial of immigration-related benefits. In a review of information collected for admission and benefit decisions, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) identified the need to collect social media identifiers ("handles") and associated social media platform names from applicants to enable and help inform identity verification, national security and public safety screening, and vetting, and related inspections.

📊CFPB Proposes Rule on Data Broker Practices - Comment Period Extended

On December 13, 2024, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) published in the Federal Register a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) requesting comment on the CFPB's proposal to amend Regulation V, which implements the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The proposed rule would implement the FCRA's definitions of consumer report and consumer reporting agency as well as certain of the FCRA's provisions governing when consumer reporting agencies may furnish, and users may obtain, consumer reports. The NPRM provided a comment period that was set to close on March 3, 2025. To allow interested persons more time to consider and submit their comments, the CFPB has determined that an extension of the comment period until April 2, 2025, is appropriate.
