✈️Class D and E Airspace Amendment Over Hampton, VA
This action amends Class D airspace and establishes Class E airspace extending upward from the surface above Langley Air Force Base (AFB), Hampton, VA, as the air traffic control tower will shift to part-time operations. This action also updates the geographic coordinates of the airport. Controlled airspace is necessary for the safety and management of instrument flight rules (IFR) operations in the area.

The Department of Transportation (DOT), through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), announces a new eVTOL and AAM Integration Pilot Program (eIPP) that will accelerate the deployment of safe and lawful eVTOL and other AAM aircraft operations in the United States. The eIPP requests that State, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments, in partnership with a private sector partner(s) with demonstrated experience in eVTOL or other AAM development, manufacturing, and operations, or new supporting technologies enabling AAM operations integration into the NAS, submit proposals. The eIPP continues the DOT's efforts to integrate eVTOL and other AAM aircraft developed or offered by a United States-based entity into the National Airspace System (NAS) by identifying the most effective partnerships to test and validate operational concepts that can be scaled to national and international applications. SLTT governments and their private sector partner(s) will propose and define these operational concepts under the safety oversight role of the FAA.

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus Helicopters Model EC 130 B4 and EC 130 T2 helicopters. This AD was prompted by the determination that fatigue cracks may develop at the root section of certain tail rotor blades (TRBs). This AD requires inspecting those TRBs and, depending on the results, replacing the TRB with a serviceable TRB. This AD also prohibits installing those TRBs unless certain actions are accomplished. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
Learn More✈️Class E Airspace Modifications
This action proposes to modify the Class E airspace area extending upward from 700 feet above the surface (Class E5 700-foot airspace area) at Lihue Airport (LIH), Lihue, HI; Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Honolulu, HI; and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, Keahole (KOA), Kailua-Kona, HI, by adding an additional layer of Class E5 airspace extending upward from 1,200 feet above the surface. This proposed addition of controlled airspace would comply with international airspace treaty provisions and satisfy the State of Hawaii's domestic airspace requirements. Additionally, this action proposes to remove the existing Class E5 airspace area that currently encompasses the Hawaiian Islands and extends beyond 12 miles from the shoreline into international airspace. This proposed action would further modify the Class E4 airspace area designated as an extension to a Class D or Class E surface area at KOA and remove the Class E4 airspace area at LIH. These actions support the safe and efficient management of instrument flight rules (IFR) operations at airports within the Hawaiian Islands.

Learn More✈️FAA's Amendments to Standard Instrument Approach Procedures
This rule amends, suspends, or removes Standard Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs) and associated Takeoff Minimums and Obstacle Departure Procedures for operations at certain airports. These regulatory actions are needed because of the adoption of new or revised criteria, or because of changes occurring in the National Airspace System, such as the commissioning of new navigational facilities, adding new obstacles, or changing air traffic requirements. These changes are designed to provide for the safe and efficient use of the navigable airspace and to promote safe flight operations under instrument flight rules at the affected airports.
