⚛️NRC Issues Exemption for Optimized ZIRLO Cladding Use
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued an exemption from certain emergency core cooling system requirements to support the use of Optimized ZIRLO<SUP>TM</SUP> fuel rod cladding material at Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2. The exemption was issued in response to a July 24, 2024, request from PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG).
