It looks like most people’s jobs are safe from AI for now. According to Census Bureau data from early 2024 (so not super new), few employers expect major changes in employment due to AI tools in the next six months. That said, many are planning to use AI for some tasks currently being done by employees so the waters are being tested.

87% of business using AI say it will have no effect on employment in the next six months. Of those business that DO think it will have an effect, more actually predict it will lead to an increase in jobs versus decreasing jobs:

35% of business utilizing AI expect they will use AI in the near future for tasks currently done by employees:

However, the vast majority believe AI will only be used in a small number of tasks:
